Ulrich Schnauss and Jonas Munk - Epic album
· byHaggiston November 07 2010 13:43:00

Here's a great soundtrack project worth hearing. The good folk at Pedigree Cuts have allowed us to feature 3 tracks on the site from the excellent collaboration album 'Epic' between Ulrich Schnauss & Jonas Munk. Their solo albums are similar in style with Jonas utilising guitar sounds to build his tracks whereas Ulrich uses his characteristic synthesizer/ shoegazing sounds.

This project for the time being is for film and tv comanies to take advantage of. One of these tracks could be the perfect soundtrack for your film project. The Epic album hasn't been released commercially as yet but Pedigree Cuts have hinted on a release in the not too distant future. I know that there are people out there who are desperate for this to happen.

The album has many influences drawing from the 70s, 80s and 90s but manages to retain a fresh identity. Opening track 'Chasing rainbows' starts off with a guitar riff which sounds similar to New Order before the chorus, a wall of beautiful sound which is unmistakably Ulrich.

Sirocco is another guitar based track that pulls you in. You wait for the main guitar segment to change but it never does, the track takes a different course altogether. There's My bloody Valentine influences in the disorted guitars before the use of synthesizers take it to another level. Lovely soaring stuff indeed!

Sonnenblumenstrahl hints at what Ulrich's 4th Studio album could sound like. He's already made it apparent that his 4th album will take on a Tangerine Dream theme. This track definately has a TD sound going on. It's the kind of track that takes you on a journey. Sublime!

The other tracks on the album continue with their trademark sound. There's plenty to like about this project and there's no denying the talents of these gifted producers.

Many thanks to Pedigree Cuts for allowing us to feature this beautiful music. Anyone who's interested in having any of these tracks for their film project should get in touch with Pedigree Cuts at this email address - info@repertoiremusic.com
