Com Truise is one of the many names that New Jersey based producer and designer Seth Haley records under. A self admitted synth obsessive, he has also released works under the names Sarin Sunday, SYSTM and Airliner. Working out of a 12' overrun apartment in Princeton, each of his personas incorporate slightly different styles but have a common theme binding them. BoC fans will love this....


Cyanide Sisters is Seth's first release under the Com Truise pseudonym. Originally released as a free EP back in July 2010 (download link below), this EP shows off his broad range of influences like none of his previous music projects. Throwing many different sounds into the brew can often have mixed results. Not so with this excellent release. Cyanide Sisters has been reissued for 2011 with an additional four tracks.


Things kick off with the titled track 'Cyanide Sisters'. A soft synth melody comes into play with pastorial undertones before a slow solid beat which gradually increases in complexity. More low end synths are applied before the main catchy synth melody. Second track 'Sundriped' continues the vibe but with Joy Division/New Order style backing. Uplifting slow-mo soul! 'BASF Ace' could be classed more as IDM and has a somewhat electro feel. 'Slow peels' has playful written all over it. 'Iwywaw' is complex in structure with precision synths and beatwork with sampled guitar sounds in the background.


Four new tracks are added to the reissue and they help cement what talent this guy has. 'Pyragony' works as a whole and 'Tripyra' could be something Boards of Canada might have come up with if they were to push the boundaries of their sound further. Cited as taking fragments (DNA strands) from Joy Division, New Order and The Cocteau Twins and creating something forwarding thinking, we reckon he's taken one step into the past but one leap into the future. Com Truise is due to release his debut album proper in May on Ghostly. Apparently it's a love story between androids in the vein of writer Philip K. Dick and it'll be titled 'Galactic Melt'. Sounds like it will be right up our street, or should we say dimension.
