Anders Ilar has released a new album titled 'stories of old'. One word that springs to mind when listening to this quality album is deep. Whether it's building textured ambience, percussive techno or creative and melodic idm, this album delivers. Based in and originally from Sweden, he knows how to conjure emotion from machines.


He also has an excellent back catalogue having released 8 other albums as well as loads of singles and EPs. Nightwidth is another must hear album.


Now on with the album 'Stories of Old'. According to discogs these 9 tracks where made between 2002 and 2009. The album starts with an ominous ambience before a thumping beat and crackling electronic sounds that are otherworldly. The effects could be robots talking to each other - or maybe that's just me. Second track Arcturus is more well thought out ambience that builds and pulls you in. Awesome track! Then there's verging into techno before the sublime Unfold. The track doesn't get going for 2 and a half minutes but boy, it is worth hearing. Beatific beautiful ambience with gorgeous tinkering sounds. Just sublime.


More ambient, analogue and thought provoking sounds make up a solid release from a quality artist. Recommended.
